Demon Hunters

Postby Silvos » Sat Jun 18, 2016 11:24 pm

With Legion rapidly approaching we figured it is time to make a post in regards to the impending Demon Hunter class. The Eye will (most likely) be recruiting Demon Hunters, we do like our Illidari after all, though we wish to ensure that they do not take up too prominent a spot in the guild. In our opinion Demon Hunters are, and should remain to be, fairly rare - given how they are supposedly Illidan's elite soldiers and were all locked away up until recent. We will thus try to ensure that we don't end up with any "Half the event group are DHs"-situations, by only adding a limited amount of DHs to our guild.

Aside from this, here are some points we'd like any DH applicant to consider and adhere to:

We highly prefer any DH applicant to be a member of the Illidari who is tied to the storyline that is told during the DH intro-experience. Any exceptions to this type of DH shall be considered on an individual basis, but will be met with reluctance. We might consider recruiting characters who are not a DH ICly but use the DH-class to represent their character, if they have a valid reason for it. Should any be recruited, they will not count to our "DH quota."

Due to the limited amount of DHs we'll be accepting we wish to ensure that those we do recruit uphold high standards. We do not like to see any of our DHs strolling around Silvermoon trying to make small talk. Their focus should be with combating the Legion, perhaps even more so than serving the Eye. This does not mean they are forbidden from visiting Silvermoon, but we expect that they have a good reason for being there rather than being out in the field slaughtering demons.

Because of this, we will only accept DHs to our events when it'd prove logical for them to be present, for example during a campaign that takes place on the Broken Isles, demon-related events in other locations, or Coven meetings away from Silvermoon. If we have, for example, a series of events revolving chasing a goblin through Tanaris, we do not think a DH would be very interested to get involved. If we are chasing the goblin to acquire an item to use against the Legion, then they might be.

As a DH will not have access to all events / city-RP, we recommend for their players to have a second character in the guild, so that they do not miss out on any RP.

We do hope to host some DH-centered events for the Eye's DHs in between other guild events. These will most likely revolve around a small wing of Eye-DHs within the Illidari, who will work together to deal with Legion-related threats. Of course we'd encourage any members of this group to host events for their fellow DHs as well.

As we expect quite the tidal wave of DHs we will not be recruiting any until we're at least one month into the expansion. The moment on which we'd open up recruitment will also be linked to any encounters we may have with the Illidari ICly.

That's all we had to share for now. If there are any questions, feel free to ask them in this thread. Of course, this policy is still subject to change, depending on how DHs come across during the expansion and/or future patches. Once the expansion is underway, we will be making a second post on DHs concerning any IC matters.

Edit: clarified some points based on the feedback we have received.

Trying hard not to be one of those lore police!!!! people, but personally I feel this is something you'll need to cherry-pick to an absolute minimum in recruitment. It's the same issue as the 'not a DK IC' front (disclaimer: which, so long as there are logical reasons as to why, I can understand). There's few other probable concepts that can fit the blind, tattooed, glaive-wielding aesthetic that disregards the demonic transformation/magic that you can't already fit with a warrior, rogue, or monk, for example. Their reasoning/concept needs to be pretty sound.

I feel if you're going to recruit someone using the DH class as a basis for their concept, it should add to the quota. There should be a scarce number of them as it is, whether they're a DH IC or not. But that's just my thoughts.

We fully agree, and we don't expect to end up recruiting many (if any) of this type.

The only potential character concept we could think of that could use a DH toon without being a DH ICly is something along the lines of Felblood Elves, but as you may understand even then there will be extensive scrutiny when it comes to potential recruitment. We just did not want to rule them out all together, and will consider them on an individual basis.

If someone uses the DH class to portray a standard blood elf, they will never find a place in this guild.

We'll make sure of that!

Given Duv's backstory, being Illidari perhaps she might know some of the Demon Hunters to be! Just a thought, if anyone was interested in starting up some friendship or nemesis stories. That section of her backstory can be found here - http://www.argentarchives.org/node/151595

Let me know!

Following today's meeting, the Sanguine Eye is now recruiting Demon Hunters. While we do not wish to immediately flood the guild with Demon Hunters, member alts will receive a more lenient recruitment process then entirely new Demon Hunters (due to not contributing to overall activity, etc). The rank 'Illidari' will be used for them and is between Blood Traitor and Loyalist. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them!
